Neutral Eye Go To

Okay, here they are.  The swatches from the Hard Candy palette I got for Christmas.

Can you see the colors on my skin?  Perfect for when I want a light touch of eyeshadow but don't feel like anything bright.  Definitely great for work as well.

Sorry for the crappy presentation.  I have forgotten how to do this blogging thing!  I just remember how fun it used to be so I am giving it another shot.

A Little Hard Candy

I go through phases with make up.  From absolutely nothing daily to full face for about 1 month.  Full face for me is only eyes, lips, and some foundation.  I can't do all of that everyday.  Lately I have been trying to find that middle ground though.  You know, just a lil' sumthin' sumthin'.  For me that middle ground is lipgloss and eye make up.

imageimageThese Hard Candy items were either gifted to me or by me.  The Hard Candy Top Ten Eyeshadow Collection in Feelin' Blue belongs to my daughter.  Can you tell how much she has used it?  I gave her this palette ages ago and it pretty much remains unused.  The colors look wonderful however, I know I don't gravitate toward blues and she obviously doesn't either.  The goal here is to watch a few videos and rock out an amazing blue eye sometime this month.

The brown set is one that was gifted to me by my daughters.  They know I love makeup and they also know I keep it basic.  This neutral palette is right up my alley. The kit came with some other goodies as well.  I will give the mascara and eye crayon a try as well as the eyeshadow.  Bronzer may be a little to advanced for me right now though.

Am I A Sale Junkie

Oh, geez!! I have done it again. Walked into a store seen a sale and bought things I wasn't even planning on buying. My justification is that it was 75% off. Does that make it okay? I need some input please.

The mission was to find 75% off nailpolishes at CVS. That mission totally failed because there was no polish marked down whatsoever. They DID have some makeup items 75% off though. I strolled up and down the aisle seeing what was what and grabbed a few items. Once it was all said and done I had spent $23.25. WHAT!! The normal price would have been $93.18 so I got a great deal right?

Here is a pic of the items I got.

CVS Hau l6-1-10
A lot of lip glosses, some eyeliner, and pigments.

Nine items for that price is not so bad right. The real question though is how much do I need these items or was it just the thrill of the sale. I am going to say the latter because when I left the store I had a sinking feeling that I wanted to spend that money elsewhere. Where you ask? On nailpolish of course.

So here is the deal, all of the HIP products go back because even though I got them for a steal after thinking about it, I don't NEED them and I would rather put the money elsewhere. The rest of the products get to stay. My justification for this is, at $2 a pop for lipgloss and the way my daughter loses it, I may as well stock up for the summer.

With the HIP products going back that puts $11.72 in my pocket which is going toward:

Urban Decay Grind House Sharpener

This sharpener came to me by way of a lovely Twitter friend and I couldn't be more thrilled. A few months ago I was reading reviews on eyeliner sharpeners and knew I was up for one that actually worked.  Most of the sharpeners I have are freebies that came with other items so I am guessing the quality couldn't be but so great.  Don't get me wrong, some freebies I do go back and pay for once done but I have honestly never had an eyeliner sharpener fall into that category. So here you have it:

Don't you just love it in all of its fabulous purpleness!!!  Of course I couldn't wait to give this baby a whirl.

Remember what I said about other sharpeners. This morning I used my Urban Decay 24/7 in Lust.  Mind you I did sharpen this morning before using and this picture is after using it on both eyes. Pretty darn dull. I will admit that I did not sharpen it to the best point but I knew my sharpener was only going to get it but so sharp anyway.

Now for the magic.  Look at this fabulous sharp pencil.  It makes me so happy and excited. No job to large for this puppy. Eyeliner peace has been restored in my household.

A few more pics to make you a believer in this bad boy.

So there you have it folks.  The pictures don't lie.  I am a happy camper and I can most definitely tell my eyeliners are smiling too.  If you don't have a decent sharpener get yourself one, you will be glad you did.

At My Fingertips

I don't have a lot of beauty products but by all means it is more than a little bit. My husband would look at me like a was crazy if I set up shop with ALL of my items on our bathroom sink so for the sake of my sanity and his I only keep on my sink a limited number of items that I like to keep at my fingertips. When I say limited, now that I look at the picture, there is a lot but since it is packed into a compact space the amount is irrelevant.

Ahhh...the magnificent jumble of stuff.  Here is what I am stashing in my containers.  Eyeliners, lip liners, shadow base, emery board, hangnail clippers, tweezers, scissors, foundation, mascara, spot treatments, eyelash comb, eyebrow brush, concealer, foundation, makeup brushes, brush cleaner, eye makeup remover, q-tips.  In the back is my Coastal Scents palette (88 colors at my fingertips) and a small mirror.  Two containers with smaller containers in them holds a lot more than you would think.  Not fancy but keeps me organized.  How do you store your items?
