Kleancolor Meet NK

Yes, it is another purple polish. Yes, it is another way to show my support for the Ravens. This is 2 coats of Kleancolor Purple (no points for name originality) with a layer of NK Sparkling Gold (no naming points for NK either).

This Kleancolor polish took forever to dry but I was in no hurry. Once I put 1 layer of the NK Sparkling Gold on I knew I was done. This was headed for a sticky, goopy mess. I only need to leave it on for football Sunday and I doubt it will last to much longer.

Panda-monium Pink Konad

This Konad has OPI Panda-monium Pink as a base and Kleancolor Purple for the design print. I had a little trouble on my ring finger becasue of the length of my nail. The initial attempt on this nail did not work out so well as there was to much empty space at the tip of my nail. The second time around I got it lined up much better, not perfect, but better.

Looking at the picture I have no idea what that blue is on my pinky finger. I think it is a glare from the TV because I surely don't remember having to clean anything off that nail and I didn't use anything blue. Oh, and I see we have an appearance from my cell phone, my nail towel, and my lovely sweatshirt sleeve. Not the greatest picture but if you focus on the nails it will be fine.

Thanks for looking, I hope you like. Any suggestions for when you nails get to long for the Konad print would be great.

A New Gem for the Collection

Anytime I go to my office which is maybe every 4-5 weeks I stop at the beauty supply store to look at the polish colors. I know they won't have new colors but I won't lie in 4-5 weeks time my eye may catch a new color that I may not have noticed before. And so it was this week when I perused the selection of colors.

My new find is Kleancolor Purple Mist.

Yea!!! I am so happy I found this. My daughter doesn't like it but I am fascinated by it. What do you think?

Water Marbling FTW

I can see myself attempting to to do this a lot more I love it. It is an unique piece of artwork on each nail. Can you feel my excitement. I'll just post the pictures and get on with the rambling afterwords. I do tend to ramble.

MY FIRST (actually first through tenth) WATER MARBLING ATTEMPT

Can I ramble now. I had fun doing this. It wasn't hard, not easy but not hard. I would say watch a few YouTube videos and give it a whirl.

My 2 CENTS:

• USE VASELINE on the skin around your nails and all up and down your fingers. It makes wiping the film off so much easier.
• WATER TEMPERATURE is crucial. To warm or to cold will make the polish dry to quickly on the water and you won't be able to marble properly. I had the perfect temperature stopped to watch a movie and came back using the same water. It was to cold and the polish dried to quickly on the water surface making it impossible to marble.
• FLAT TOOTHPICKS worked better for me than round. I wasn't sure which to get so I bought both. When marbling I found that the flat toothpick cut through the polish better. It also helped scrape excess polish off of the skin easier than the round.

I am soooo doing this again.

Oh and for this I had on:
Orly Green With Envy painted on all of my nail as base.
Sally Hansen Cherry Red used to marble.
Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow used to marble.
Kleancolor Black used to marble.

I know you don't see red or yellow but because the of the base coat I used they show up purple and light green. My daughter said it looks like a peacock!! FABULOUS!!!

Nail Polish Haul

I don't know how I all of a sudden got addicted to nail polish but goodness these colors are just calling me and I can't seem to get enough of them. Today I went out on a specific nail polish mission. Since there is no Sally's near me, actually it is not THAT far, I waited until Saturday to go to Sally's and see what China Glaze they had. I was also hoping to find OPI Merry Midnight but didn't know Sally's doesn't carry OPI.  Other than that color right now I am set on blues. I was overwhelmed looking at all of the colors and ended up with 3 polishes (only 1 blue), a top coat, and some nail polish remover.

From left to right there is Beauty Secrets Top Coat, Nina Ultra Pro Purple Pizzaz, Nina Ultra Pro Babi Blue, and Orly Green With Envy. I also picked up a bottle of Beauty Secrets Acetone Nail Polish Remover. The removers I have seem to take to much scrubbing so I'll see how this one works out.

After Sally's I headed to the local beauty supply store.  The kind that sells every type of track, phony pony, wig, dye, hair glue, rollers, shampoo, socks, knock off purses, earrings, and of course my favorite NYX products and nail polish.  After 10 minutes of decision making I left with 5 pretty polishes.

From left to right there is Pearl Blue, Malibu, Neon Hot Pink, Blue Pearl, and Purple. (I just noticed I picked up a Pearl Blue and a Blue Pearl, hmmmm...interesting, totally different colors.) 

With 8 new polishes I think that I am good for a month or 2...not making any promises though. Check back for swatches and pictures of manicures with these fabulous colors.

Christmas Nail Disaster

Ha..I was bored with my Candy Cane looking nails so thought I wanted something different. Shame on me for thinking the grass is always greener and there is something better to be had. Really I should have just left well enough alone but that is so not me.  Here is a pic of what I was trying to do with some Christmas colors.

One picture should suffice. The polish remover was calling my name. I felt to be fair to all I should post the messes I make as well. Zoya Suvi was the base, a Sally Hansen French Shell Shimmer in Naturel White for the lines, and Kleancolor Red Heart for the tip. Just so you know what NOT to do!!

Christmas Nails

This weekend was filled with hours of me trying to figure out what red, white, green design I could do on my nails. Ideally I would have liked to do a red nail with little green Konad bows or vice versa but that wasn't happening. I do not have a red and green that provided a nice enough contrast to see the detailing of the bows. I may still do some thing with white bows but am not so sure. Here are two experiments and I am not thrilled with either. Whatever I guess. For now I am tired of inhaling the aroma of polish and remover so maybe later I will think of something I really love.

The first one I did reminds me of Candy Canes. For this one I painted my nails with Kleancolor Red Heart and used the Sally Hansen French Nail Shimmer in Naturel White for the design.The next one I did I wanted to add a little glitter.  I tried gold but the flecks were so tiny it would have taken to many coats to get it right so I went with the silver Kleancolor glitter.  The idea was to have the glitter more concentrated on the tips.  This was the first time I tried to do this and it got kind of thick towards the tips.  Since I do have a silvery polish I thought that putting that on the ends would help the appearance of making the glitter look more concentrated at the tips.  Needless to say it was more goopy mess.  Oh well, it is all about learning so I wasn't upset.  This was the result:

Now I have to try and figure something else out.  I must say I really do like the color of the Kleancolor Red Heart.  For a cheapie polish it seems to work fine for my purposes.

Konad Experimenters Anonymous

Yes...I need help.  I like to play and experiment with the different Konad prints and colors.  The thing is I stay up super late messing around with it and then I am sleepy, sleepy, sleepy the next day.  But what can you do...keep experimenting right.  So here is my experiment with Zoya Midori.                           

   

This could get really long so I am just going to give my quick thoughts on each nail from left to right.

1. Zoya Midori all its own being absolutely fabulous.

2. Kleancolor Silver Glitter 27--Added a little bling.  I think I like the silver bling more than the gold with the Midori.  Just by a smidgen though, they both look nice.

3. NK Nail Enamel Sparkling Gold 024-- More bling, gold bling.

4. Kleancolor Black 142- this smudged a little in the middle, not sure if is the fault of the polish or me, probably the latter.  The contrast is nice though.

5. Sally Hansen French Shell Shimmer 1 Naturel White and Kleancolor Black 142-- will try this again with the Konad Special Polish, I was going for a half and half.  I put the white on the plate first and I think it ran some so when I put the black on the other half of the image there was white underneath of it.  The thicker special polish should take care of that issue though.

6.  Kleancolor Red Heart 74-- a little red and green cheetah action, it's so-so I guess, don't love it or hate it.

7.  Kleancolor Black 142-- love it, this print can probably go on any color.

8.  Kleancolor Neon Yellow 18-- this one surprised me the most.  When I initially did it I thought "this sucks, you can't even see the yellow." :-(  The more I looked at it I began to appreciate how subtle the yellow is and the simple contrast it provides.

9. Sally Hansen French Shell Shimmer 1 Naturel White-- no love for this one, I still haven't found the perfect color combo for this design.. not feeling it though.

10. Sally Hansen XTremewear Celeb City 13-- total dud!!! The silver polish I used was way to thin for the delicate lines of this print.  A silver, just not this one, will look really nice with the Midori though.

1. The yellow middle finger;

Quick Konad Mani

Here is a quick Konad Maincure I did today.  I used Kleancolor Dazzle Me as the base and Sally Hansen French Shell Shimmer in Natural White for the design.  Konad design plate M57.

       

Kleancolor Nail Polish

A few days ago after a long day at the office I decided to stop by my local beauty supply store to pick up a few things. This is the type of store that sells all sorts of things: wigs, tracks, ponytails and the like; purses, umbrellas, socks; cosmetics and nail polishes...like I said pretty much any and everything. My main purpose for going in was to look for a moisturizer for my daughters hair and get some headbands for them. I walked out with no moisturizer and some headbands but of course I had a few other purchases.

My eyes always light up when I see the displays of a lot of nail polishes, lipsticks, eye shadows, actually anything that is a big collection. I get sucked in by the numerous options and want them all. That wasn't a possibility so I just looked and decided to sample a few nail polishes.

The brand is called Kleancolor. I wasn't familiar with it but at $1.49 a bottle it was worth a try. There were two different types, a rectangular bottle and a round bottle. After getting home it appears the round bottle is the more current product line because I couldn't find any of the rectangular bottles online.

Anyway here is a picture of the two colors I picked. I know what you are thinking...BORING, but let me defend myself. I have a lot of bright colors in my polish collection so I thought I would try colors that were a little less flashy. The color on the left is called Dazzle Me and the neutral is called Twister. I did sample both of them and I am a little torn on these colors.

The Dazzle Me only takes one coat to achieve its true in the bottle color. It seemed a little thick to me but that may just be because I am not used to creme polishes. Despite its thickness the polish went on easily and I did not have to continuously coat my nails. This color looks different in different light so I took multiple pictures outside and indoors and they all look different. For some reason this polish reminds me of paint that you paint the walls with.

The Twister went on easily as well but does require 2 coats. The first coat was to sheer for my liking. The problem with this polish is that I just don't think it is the right color for me. It almost matches my skin tone exactly so it made my fingers look very strange, as if I don't have finger nails almost. I'll let you be the judge.

I did go ahead and do my manicure this week with the Dazzle Me so I'll come back and update on how well this polish holds up.

Outdoor Light Indoor Light

This is the same bottle of polish, Kleancolor Dazzle Me. The first picture was taken outdoors and the second picture was taken indoors.

All in all for $1.49 it is a polish that I would definitely pick up a few more of. They have a lot of colors and the thickness of some of the cremes may allow a Konad fan to take advantage. Just a thought.
