Sally Hansen Byte

Sally Hansen Byte is from the Hi-Definition line and let me say it is a beauty.  This picture does not do it justice.  In the past I have only used this polish for layering.  I have several HD polishes and they take about 3-4 layers to get a nice opaque finish.  Pictured below is 3 coats of Byte and one coat of Sally Hansen Top Coat.

Sally Hansen Byte

On a side note this mani was done while I was in the car on my way to PA.  Don't worry, I wasn't driving.  Doing your nails in the car is sooooo hard.  I am proud my mani looks this decent.  Lots of bumps and braking to contend with.

Interesting Find- LACROSS Nail Cleaning Sponges

I don't know if these are old, old, old news but I came across them in Big Lots the other day.  Since I have never seen them before it is new to me but since it WAS in Big Lots I know I am somewhat late.  For 50 cents a pack I grabbed a couple to give them a shot.  It is like a Q-tip on one end and a makeup sponge on the other.

Anyone ever seen or tried these before?

Mermaid to Order or Lagoon

As soon as I got Sally Hansen Lagoon in the mail I knew it looked like something I already had.  Ah ha, Sephora by OPI Mermaid to Order.  Here a few pics of them in the bottle and a few pics in different lighting on the nails.

Can you tell which is which?  Do you see any subtle differences.  I don't.  Are you wondering which nail has which polish?

Here ya go!!!

Again pardon my cuticles, I have gotten something that will hopefully help them.

The Power of Layering

Ages ago I had no idea that people layered polishes. Oh what I had been missing out on. The Sally Hansen HD polishes I picked up are so sheer that layering is always an option with them. Since I was at the end of the road with my Magens Bay Blue mani I decided to top it with some different colors to see how it looked.

Sorry for the obvious cuticles and messy edges. I wasn't investing any cleanup time in this since I knew it was coming right back off.

Pretty. I am really in love with Hue. Funny that this was my last choice to get. Some polishes can surprise you.

Lots of Dots- Ginessa Bundlemonster Mani

It has been forever since I posted a mani but I have been doing them, just no time to blog. I am going to try to catch up over the next few days with the older pics and manis and then get back on track I hope.

Remember a long time ago when I had Zoya Ginessa on my nails, here is the BundleMonster mani I did with it. The colors are Zoya Ginessa as the base. SallyHansen XTremewear in The Real Teal and Pacific Blue.

Bundlemonster BM11 & BM19 6-10-10

Looks like Easter eggs to me. I used two BundleMonster plates for this mani. The BM11 is the strip of dots near the base of my nail and the BM19 is for the polka dots. It was a little tedious to do the alternating colors but overall it was a fun mani to do.

My First Bundlemonster Mani!!

So here it is. My very first BundleMonster mani. Honestly it is not a full mani, it is just the right hand. I tried so many different things on my left hand I just decided to figure out what I liked and do it on my right hand and take some pictures. If you remember my post on Zoya Dea I asked for suggestions on what colors would look good with this. My initial thought was a mint green or pastel pink. Rmcandlelight *I'm wearing China Glaze Stella* of Nails Beautiqued chimed in and though that adding white to either of those colors would make it "pop". ABOP from Another Bottle of Polish thought teal would go well.

Let me tell you, I tried for at least an hour to come up with a pink, mint green, or teal that actually showed up well on this polish. Everything seemed like it was washed out. ABOP was absolutely right about the white making it pop.

Anyway, I tried layering Hidden Treasure over it which looked very pretty but I wanted to use my BundleMonster plates. I also layered Sally Hansen HD Hue over it and that looked pretty nice as well. When it was all said and done this is what I ended up with.

BundleMonster BM21 6-9-10

So who knew this yellow holo polish over Zoya Dea would produce this subtle holo greenish color. For the record the Sally Hansen HD Hue looks more yellow if you do a normal layer over tope of Dea.

BundleMonster BM21 6-9-10

Anyway I am tired after experimenting around so much so I think I am going to call it at night. By the way these pics were taken indoors this evening. I'll see if I can get a sunlight pic tomorrow if the sun manages to peep through the clouds. Good night!!

Sally Hansen LCD

Sally Hansen released a new line of HD colors of which I picked up all but one. Here are some swatches of LCD.

Sally Hansen LCD Swatches

The pinky finger shows 3 coats of only LCD. Even though it is very sheer it is very pretty. My second fave would be the LCD over the black. It makes the black look purple, me likey!!! Then for kicks I did it over a white and a pink polish to see what the turnout would be. Here is another picture in little bit darker lighting that captures the sparkle.

Sally Hansen Xtremewear Sale

Just a heads up that RiteAid is having BOGO on Sally Hansen XTremewear polishes. If you haven't tried them you may want to pick some up. They are great for water marbling and at the price point I would try a franken or two as well. I already have quite a few but I grabbed these because I don't have anything similar in my polish collection.

Sally Hansen BOGO 6-1-10
The Pacific Blue color is way off but I just couldn't get it. It is a lot more purple than this. The Real Teal is pretty close.

For a grand total of $3.17 I am glad to add these to my collection. You can check out some of my creations with Sally Hansen products by clicking here.

Happy Memorial Day- A Little Late

I hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day weekend. Here is a photo of the mani I sported for Memorial Day.

Memorial Day Sponging

Wet N Wild French White Creme
Sally Hansen Cherry Red
Sally Hansen Blue It
Wet N Wild Psycho

This was the first time I tried sponging and it is quite fun. Thank goodness not as messy as water marbling. The great thing is if you mess up you can just sponge back over it with your base color. The glitter bottle just happened to be on the table for a project my daughter was doing. I didn't use it for the mani at all.

Hidden Treasures on the Lagoon

Another corny post title but whatever. You knew it was going to be about the lovely Hidden Treasure from Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure line. This is once coat layered of Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure Lagoon.

I am going to like this Hidden Treasure polish no doubt!!!

Sally Hansen Lagoon

Here is a quick swatch of the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure color Lagoon. I am still trying to get used to this brush. The wide brush is still hard for me maniuplate therefore more cleanup necessary. I actually did this while sitting in the car being a soccer mom so focus on the color more than anything.
Sally Hansen Lagoon
This picture was taken prior to cleanup but after going through the million of shots this one is most true to color as well.

I think I am going put some Hidden Treasures on top and see how it looks.

Finally Did A Konad Again..

I feel like it has been forever since I have done a Konad. Coming from doing one every 2-3 days to recently seeming like every 2-3 weeks it is my forever. On to eye candy because I know that is what you are waiting for.

Konad S6 5-19-10

For this Konad I used Sally Hansen Sea and Be Seen as the basecoat. Using Konad plate s6 and Zoya Ibiza I did a single stamp on each finger. Whoa, what a pain to try and get these centered. My trick for this print was to focus on the line down the middle of the image and try to get that down the middle of my nail. I did my right hand first since I never photo that one. Sad to say my left hand is better than the right hand I am still not totally pleased with the left. You will notice that I tried double stamping my ring finger. That is the longest nail so why not do something a little different.

Konad S6 5-19-10Konad S6 5-19-10

What made me really happy is the checkout lady at the grocery store told me she liked my nails. She went on to ask if I get them done in my area. I let her in that I do them myself.

Don't you love when you get compliments on your nails and people think you had them done by someone else. Made my day!!!

Sally Hansen Sea and Be Seen

Now that I have tried to fix my 2 nails the best that I can on to the polishing. I was uber-excited to try the polishes I won from Dolly. Surprisingly enough I didn't try the Hidden Treasures first I went for the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Sea and Be Seen. This purply-blue or bluey-purple depending on you lighting has lots of tiny flecks of glitter giving the polish a nice sparkle. It just dawned on my as I type this that this series is supposed to be a basecoat, strengthener, growth treatment, color, and topcoat combined. Oops, old habits die hard and I had on OPI Basecoat.

Here it is looking more blue:

Sally Hansen Sea And Be Seen

Here it is looking more purple:

Sally Hansen Sea And Be Seen

The brush took some getting used to. I have never used a brush like this and it was interesting to get used to. One stroke will cover the majority of your nail with a little on one or both edges depending on your technique. So how do I get that little bit left without have another whole stroke over the majority of my nail. I am all about uniformity and proper technique but it just seemed like I was overlapping way to much nail when I painted the second stroke. It all turned out fine in the end though.

Happy Earth Day- A Little Earth Day Marbling

What I had in mind here for Earth Day was colors that look like a map. Blue, green, brown, maybe a little white as if you are looking at Earth from outer space.

I wanted to get this post up on Earth Day so I only have a few sample pics. Once I get all of the pics uploaded I will share the rest and the details.

HAPPY EARTH DAY!!

Sally Hansen Marine Scene

Yet another Sally Hansen X-Tremewear polish. Marine Scene is very pretty blue that as I look at the pictures, makes me want to be in the ocean. I don't have them all of the XTremewear polishes but I do have a good number of them. They did have a price drop at Walmart where they were only $2.00 down from $2.50. The other day when I checked the price has gone back up but to $3.00. Still not a bad price but $2.00 was a steal in my book.

I Blue Myself Away With M36

I hate naming my blog posts. They are all corny but whatever. With this mani I did something a little different from my norm and did a different stamp on each nail. That is out of my typical bubble but I really like the way it turned out.

For the base coat I used Sally Hansen Blue Me Away!. It is such a fun bright blue and reminds me of a nice Spring-y blue. The design was also done with another Sally Hansen XTremewear polish, Mellow Yellow. All the designs are from plate M36.

Konad M36 3-11-10

Please excuse my hangnails. They plague me like no other and I don't know what to do to keep them away. If you have any suggestions let me know.

Party Like A (Pink) Rockstar!!

Me likey. Pink and glittery. It gets no better than this. Of course I could never wear this to a corporate job (I don't think) but since I work from home I can rock out anytime I want. Sally Hansen X-tremewear polish is a great line for the $2.00 price point. With a lot of fun colors to choose from it is hard for me to see a color I don't have and not pick it up and Rockstar Pink was no exception.

Sally Hansen Rockstar Pink

I usually don't make my pictures this big but I really want you to see this glitter up close and personal. How can you say no to this. I may have on a clear base coat but most likely not but how fun would this be layered over just about any color. Grab a bottle of this and PARTY LIKE A ROCKSTAR!!

Sally Hansen Swatches

I picked these up on a 75% off sale so they were about $1.50 each. All very pretty shades. I have only used the Back to the Fuschia on a full manicure but am looking forward to using the others as well. They were all a little streaky on the first coat but the secound covered that up. I am almost 100% sure that there are only 2 coats on each nail.

One Day Konad

This Konadicure wasn't meant to only last a day but I guess I didn't wait long enough for the top coat to dry so the next morning I had all sorts of sheet lines and grooves in my nail polish. From far away you couldn't really see it but I just kept looking at my nails in disgust. Thank goodness I try to take most of my shots immediately after my manicure.

Konad M57 02-03-10

The base of this is China Glaze Pink Underground. For the white design I used the Konad M57 plate. This plate is a staple in anyones Konad collection. The white polish used is Sally Hansen French Shell Shimmer in Naturel (this IS how it is spelled on the bottle, promise) White.

Konad M57 02-03-10

I put a few hearts in one nail in honor of the upcoming Valentine's Day. This Konad turned out fine so I am a little irked that I ended up taking it off the next day.

Keeping It Simple

This will just be a short and sweet post about my current mani. A little more subtle and plain than I am used to but I like it. I used Sinful Colors Social Ladder on my nails and Sally Hansen Xtremewear Twisted Pink for the design on Konad plate M36.
